Blogging is too competitive

Lauren has a guest post over at PR Breakfast Club this morning on how social media and blogging have become too competitive.  So, where’s the community aspect everyone keeps chatting about? You tell me.

Thanks PRBC for the opportunity!

I'm way too competitive to post a comment on the original amongst all those other good comments so I'll just post here, where for at least a few minutes mine will be the best.

1.) A little competition never hurt anyone, but there's a difference in pushing one another to advance both parties, and having a pissing match.
2.) If we look at the people at the top of our respective fields, it's pretty easy to witness how much they value their communities, and how hard they work to provide value to others first. The self promoters eventually get tired when they can't win overnight, when they can't move the needle with a few tweets.

I say let them compete, while we quietly continue creating great content and cultivating our community. We can wave as we pass them by.
