#FollowFriday LAF Style: Top 3 Blog Posts of the Week (According to me)
LAF is always trying to change things up! So this week, I am starting a new type of #followfriday. I am going to highlight three blog posts that I found the most beneficial and interesting for the week. Let me know what you think, and if you have any others I should add!
Sasha Muradali wrote a post this week titled ‘Close PR Encounters of the Facebook Kind.’ In it, Sasha detailed how even though we are PR and marketing professionals, that doesn’t mean our Facebook profiles need to be public. Now, I have a different stance on this, but I do value the opposite side of the opinion. It brings up interesting points that I might not have thought about before, as well as challenging what I believe is true. This is beneficial to every PR pro – thinking outside the box.
Mike Schaffer blogged this week about the Marines deciding to cease all use of social networking sites, effective immediately. ‘Is Social Media a National Security Issue?’ was the question that Mike posed. This topic is something that I feel should be heard and understood – especially by anyone who is wanting to do social media for a government-based agency. I come from a military family and dated a Marine in HS, so this is an issue close to my heart. There are just some companies and orgs that don’t need a presence on social media – and this is something we should understand.
The insightful Rachel Kay rounds out my top 3 for the week. Her blog post on Monday, ‘The Art and Foolishness of Tying PR into Tragedy’ asks the question about a PR trend we are seeing more frequently these days. Many PR folks will use a tragedy to pitch their product – more often than not, in a tacky light. But what if it’s actually a great fit, and something that could actually educate those? Where is the balance? Great post and discussion.
So, who would you add?
Thanks Lauren, am going to read your opposing POV right now
This is so unique for #FollowFriday too! I love this idea…might be a copycap with it! lol *shhh*
Best wishes and Happy TGIF!
Sasha
Wow…Honored to be included here! Great topics, all around. Can we say it was a good week for PR blogs?
Laura – thank you so much for referencing my post as one of your top 3! What an honor! I don’t take your opinions lightly, so I really appreciate such an awesome acknowledgment.
