Class of 2010: Congratulations! 3 years ago I sat where you were: on the brink of awesome. You all are. It just depends on what you do with it.
Dear Lauren’s friends, bosses, college roommates, colleagues, pets and shoes,
Hi. I’m Jenn, and in precisely 25 days I will be graduating from Tufts University in Boston.
Here’s a confession for you, now that we’re friends: it’s a little scary.
I spend a lot of time declaring my excitement about graduating, telling people how much I’m looking forward to a new adventure and challenge. But seeing as how it’s now April 30th and I’m the only one of my friends who has no idea where I need to ship my stuff when my lease is up on May 31st, I’m getting kind of nervous. Please don’t make me move back home to my parents’ house!
You see, I’m one of those people that thrives on a schedule, that loves to make to-do lists and plan meetings and call people on the phone. You know what offers all of those things? A job! So you can see why I’m really looking forward that lifestyle, right? (Even though I’m really good at staying up until 3 am and waking up at 10 am.)
Here’s where you can come in! As of May 23rd, I will be considered fully employable and I’m ready to rock and roll.
I’m a political science major, but over the past two years I’ve become increasingly interested in social media and the online community. I enjoy exploring new ways to connect people and ideas, and I think the public relations field is a natural fit. I like people, I like interacting both online and offline, and I like working on projects.
My political science background and history working for nonprofits gives me a unique perspective and set of experiences to draw from. I think critically, and problem-solve quickly. My time spent at small nonprofits taught me how to be flexible, adapt to changing situations, and manage many tasks at once.
And I’m really fun. I like to bake. I sometimes like to run, and I’m just the right amount of sarcastic that people find me funny without being obnoxious. (I hope…)
If you like me as much as I like you, you can check out my online portfolio or read my blog, but please don’t judge me for telling embarrassing stories, ok? You can also e-mail me because I like e-mail. Let’s chat!
Also a huge thank you to Laura for letting me be a little bit silly and a little bit professional on her blog in honor of HAPPO. It’s a wonderful honor and I can’t wait until I get to hang out with her in Boston in a few days.
Talk to you all soon!
